Our Secondary Curriculum Offer

Our Curriculum offer:

The Gillford Centres vision statement is “Inspiring children, changing lives for a brighter future” and this surmises our core values of ensuring a personalised curriculum that meets the needs of individuals. Most if not all of the students are referred to The Gillford Centre because mainstream education has not worked fully and issues have arisen for students that have placed barriers to their learning.

The Gillford Centre aims to remove those barriers and develop students academically and pastorally to ensure success in the future.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum for both Key Stage 3 and 4 learners, which is both personalised and flexible.  All of our students are challenged and supported to make progress and achieve.

The Key stage 3 curriculum is rich and engaging with many practical elements.  Maths and English lessons are a high priority with a dedicated curriculum time of five lessons a week each.

Our aim is to prepare students for a reintegration back in to a mainstream school and at Key Stage 3 pupils follow a curriculum similar to that of a mainstream school so as to make reintegration back a smooth process.

There is a wide range of subjects in key stage 4 which allow students the opportunity to make a range of choices for their post 16 destinations.

At Key Stage 4 pupils follow a core curriculum of Mathematics, English, Science, PSHE, PE and then are able to select from a variety of subjects as we personalise students' curriculums to maximise students' success.  Students have the opportunity to choose from subjects such as Health and Social Care, Construction, ICT, Food Technology, and Art.  We work to cater for a variety of interests and passions.

All pupils will follow either GCSE, or Functional Skills, or Level 1 or Level 2 qualification pathways.

Some students are offered provision which is delivered by local providers. The provision is quality assured and the courses offered provide pupils with either Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications.
