Alternative Provision SEN GROUP
In the alternative provision SEN group, we cater for young people with ASD and attachment disorders. These young people have struggled to manage in mainstream education and require a smaller, more nurturing environment to enable them to achieve.
The main purpose of the group is to boost the pupil’s self-esteem and confidence around coming to school and accessing education.
Our students are taught either 1:1 or in a small group to enable them to overcome any barriers to learning and to allow them to achieve their academic potential. The young people are treated as individuals; therefore, the groups timetable and curriculum are tailored to meet their specific needs.
The children access the KS3 curriculum, while there is also a large focus on more nurturing and therapeutic sessions such as Art and targeted PSHCE.
